Drawing Out: Material Dialogues with the Boyarsky-collection deSingel Internationale Kunstcampus, Antwerp (BE)

show description

Video 71:17 is loosely modeled after director Jørgen Leth’s 1967 anthropological short film, The Perfect Human. The scenes in the video bare anxieties on six themes: intelligence, nature, technology, image, mobility and time. The narrative is structured around images found on the Internet cropped from their original context. The video takes the viewer into an elusive yet concerned environment and repeats Leth’s initial question, “how is it to touch the perfect human?”

The video was exhibited with the drawing Switchboard in the group show, Drawing Out: Material Dialogues with the Boyarsky Collection part of the international traveling exhibition, Drawing Ambience: Alvin Boyarsky and the Architectural Association. (text by Alex Augusto Suárez)
